I would find it beneficial for a live recording gig - having musicians read their charts from an iPad - instead of making noise each time they turn paper pages.

cool

Mark, what would you use the front facing camera for?

And I don't know what you mean about people being vapid. From NYTimes.com:

Quote:
“It’s beyond technology. It’s a culture. It’s a community,” said Rey Gutierrez, a die-hard loyalist with a tattoo of the Apple logo on his left hand, who had waited outside the San Francisco Apple store since 4 a.m.

Personally, nothing at all. But there are these things these days called "webcams", and a lot of people use them for all sorts of things. You find them built into most all cutting-edge electronics these days.

Except for the iTampon.

Sure, you can hang a webcam off the top, and try to cinch down the wire as best you can to where it plugs into the adapter that then plugs into the unit... Setting new standards of ease of use! Lowering them.

I have a webcam on top of my computer monitor and another one built into my laptop. And a camera in my iPhone, and a real digital camera, and a really good film camera I haven't used for years, and a 70-year-old Leica.

Why do I need a tampon with one?

Holy Moley Josef!

You just gave me a great reason to consider the purchase of an iPad.
I'm doing a lots of jazz gigs and I'm carrying a bunch of books.
One iPad might replace 20 pounds of charts.
Thanks for the insight.
I suspect there will be many other cool uses for this device.

Thanks

Who was the first company to offer a built-in webcam on their computers, Mark? Care to take a guess? As a matter of fact, who got there first most of the time?

I've subbed a few times as a bass player in a band that uses those LCD chart pads.
Amazing tech. Tons of charts, sortable by user defined set lists, pages turn with a foot pedal.
If the I-pad can do the same functions then I'd imagine it'll be quite popular for that use as it's price point is less than 1/2 of those.

I can't remember the name of those things. I do know they're red.........

I'm not so sure about that. Think of how often your music hits the floor on gigs and picture your tablet in it's place. smile
